Tips for hiking

Hiking trail around the lake:

Beautiful hike through orchards and vine yards. Starting point is the parking space of the seaside resort LIDO. There we walk north passing behind the restaurant Geier along the narrow hiking trail behind the building. Turn right into the agricultural road and walk along it until the vineyards begin. Turn right and pass by the Seehotel on the left hand of the building, where you will reach the Klughammer Street. At the south end of Klughammer, there is a hiking trail above the road to the south end of the lake. There you cross the street and turn into the nature-experience-path. At the end of this learning path, turn into Kuchlweg and walk along it until short before you reach the Weinstraße. There you turn into the field track and cross the Weinstraße at the right-hand bend. Follow the field track and afterwards the pavement until you reach the small church of St.Josef. There you turn right into the narrow road and follow it until you reach the starting point.

Rastenbachklamm

With all its waterfalls, pools, ivy-overgrown trees, fallen trunks and murmuring cool waters; Rastenbachklamm is an impressing natural monument.
Circular path
Start: Sporting zone of St.Anton
Course of the hike: Starting from the parking space of the sporting zone of St.Anton you take route number 11A into the Kardatscher hiking trail (number 10) and after about 45 minutes follow the sign on the right hand marked “Rastenbachklamm” (number 1). Walk along this path for about 45 minutes in direction of Altenburg. After another 15 minutes upwards the Klamm you will reach the parking space Müllereck. Cross the Alternburgerstraße and walk back on the Altenburger hiking trail number 11 to the starting point in about 30 minutes.
Difference in attitude: 260 meters
Time needed: approx. 2.5 hours

Der Friedensweg

The Kalterer Friedensweg (peace path) – created between 1995 and 2000 by the action group around Pater Georg Reider, project Tau- leads from the parking space of the sporting zone St.Anton along a culture and nature landscape through the Kardatschertal valley or over the wild Rastenbachklamm to St.Peter in Altenburg.
Seven points of contemplation invite the hikers and pilgrims to rest and meditate. The five themes 'moderation/wisdom/justice/faith and hope' were designed by artists and adopted to the local environment. The sixth station (courage) is the Rastenbachklamm itself. The seventh (love) features the early Christian church ruins of St. Peter in Altenburg, which are probably the oldest church ruins in Tyrol.

To Roen
Beautiful, not strenuous mountain hike with a few uphill stretches. Starting point is the top station of the Mendel cable car.

Nordic Walking at Caldaro

Nordic Walking – the best way of moving your whole body while feeling fit and at ease. All it takes are some special Nordic Walking poles. While doing this Nordic kind of walking – Nordic Walking was invented by some Swedish biathletes – you use a total of 90% of your muscles, stimulate your metabolism and can, thus, easily loose weight.
